Morphological Assessments of Traumatic Brain Injury

This chapter reviews documented methods for tracking morphological damage across the neurovascular unit following experimental models of focal or diffuse traumatic brain injury. Sections within this chapter focus on the chronology of morphological change in specific components of the neurovascular unit (neurons, astrocytes, vasculature, and microglia). Morphological disruption of circuit connectivity is briefly addressed in the last section. Efforts have been made to reference relevant external review articles and appropriate internal textbook references for in-depth methodological detail.
