Motor function is a common deficit in patients who have experienced a traumatic brain injury (TBI). These deficits include difficulties with balance, increased dizziness, reductions in strength, and fine motor difficulties. Clinically relevant rodent models of TBI have utilized complex vestibulomotor and strength tasks to evaluate similar deficits in experimental TBI. The utilization of these tasks allows researchers to determine the causes of motor deficits in TBI and evaluate therapeutic manipulations in animal models.
