由脑垂体前叶分泌的促性腺素的一种。作用于卵巢的黄体或黄体细胞，促进孕激素的分泌。简写 LTH。在鼠、小白鼠、田鼠、羊，生乳素即 LTH，与生乳素为同义词。但是在人、猴、牛、豚鼠等，单独的生乳素无黄体刺激作用。
