原种 stock seed，original seed （1）指育种中为了生产农业用种子而在种子田〔原种圃（registered seed farm）〕中播种的种子。原种的原种称为原原种（foundation seed）在采选原种时必须注意保持育成品种的特性和防止品种退化。进行原种制种时，自交作物务必要求纯系。异交作物虽不是纯系，但是选择的种群也应与其他的植株进行隔离。在家禽中原种习惯用original breed，orrgi－nal stock，一词，家鸡育种中称为grand parentstock。（2）在园艺植物中，作为改良品种或栽培品种的对应词，把其祖先的地方种及野生种（Wildspecies）统称为原种。（3）等于基本种。
