Recommended Storage Conditions
Probes should be stored frozen both when lyopholized or in solution. Aliquoting your probe into additional vials after resuspension can help to minimize potential breakdown due to repeated freezing and thawing. The table below illustrates the effects of storage condition on modified oligonucleotide stability.
Storage Temperature Lyopholized Resuspended Refrigerated> 12 months > 2 months Frozen> 24 months > 18 months
Light Sensitivity
Many fluorescent dyes are light sensitive and lose their ability to fluoresce when exposed to light for an extended period of time through a process called photo bleaching. Consequently, fluorescent probes should be protected from light as much as possible to prevent fluctuations in fluorescent intensity due to photo bleaching. If possible, work with fluorescent probes in the dark or in low light.
