Pharmacogenetics and Pharmacogenomics

The advances made over the last 30 yr in molecular biology, molecular genetics, and genomics, and the development of associated methods and technologies, have had a major impact on our understanding of biology, including the action of drugs and other biologically active xenobiotics. The tools that have been developed and the knowledge of the fundamental principles underlying cellular function have become indispensable for almost any field of biological research, including biomedicine and health care.
